3172 Maintenance Mode

Maintenance Mode
In Maintenance Mode, you can view the following types of information:
    Error codes
    Operator actions
    Component information
Additional detailed data (until data is exhausted).

Note: You should use Maintenance Mode only when the IBM Software Support Center requests that you use it. This mode is used when you cannot copy the system log. This section applies only to ICP. Use the keypad to do the following actions:

View the next type of information
Press Enter to view the next type of information. If you press Enter when the last of the additional detailed data shows, the error code is redisplayed. If information other than the error code is displayed for more than 1 minute, the error code is automatically redisplayed.

Display the error code
If a type of error information other than the error code is displayed, key in 1 and press Enter to display the error code. You must press Enter within 1 minute after you key in 1, or the display returns to its previous state. If the error code is already displayed, this key sequence has no effect.

Note: In Maintenance Mode, when the Error indicator is not blinking, additional detailed data is available for display, which in some cases can result in digit 1 displaying a 1. Follow the rules in this section to ensure that you are viewing the error code.

Enter Maintenance Mode
Key in E and press Enter to enter Maintenance Mode. You must press Enter within 1 minute after you key in E, or the display returns to its previous state. To exit Maintenance Mode, key in E and press Enter.

Clear the current error code
Key in C and press Clear to clear the current error code. The display then shows either:
        A pending error
        Operational status.

You must press Clear within 1 minute after you key in C, or the display returns to its previous state.
Note: You cannot key in an operator command while an error is displayed.

Key in a valid operator command if the error has been cleared from the display.

Key-entry Error: If the system detects a key-entry error, the 4-digit display alternately shows 0000 for 1 second and then FFFF for another second. This sequence continues until you press Clear (any other key is ignored) or until 1 minute elapses. In either case, the display clears and then shows the error code.
